  • Protecting your organization & value offerings to your employees - Insurance & employee benefit issues for nonprofits

This session will review property and liability risks and how they may be important to each organization. Then we will focus on designing employee benefit plans to aid in retention and recruitment of employees. Focusing on low cost yet meaningful benefits, it also includes benefits all employers are currently providing and how to communicate them to staff.

Gayle C. Holcom, CLU, CHFC, MBA, Sound Benefit Planning & Design, LLC

Susan HowlettGayle worked in the Employee Benefit industry as a broker and consultant for 45 years prior to her retirement. Much of her work focused on helping small business employers design meaningful and affordable benefit packages for their valued employees. In this new chapter of her career, Gayle has chosen to focus on small not-for-profit agencies to maximize employee benefits.

Gayle has a BA from Wellesley College in Massachusetts and an MBA from the University of Puget Sound. Gayle also holds several professional credentials in the insurance and financial services field as well as a Certificate in Health Care Reform Studies from the American College. She has been an active member of the Society of Financial Service Professionals (SFSP), serving locally (president) and nationally (board member) as well as being a presenter for the organization at several national educational events.

Important touchstones in Gayle's life are love of learning, love of experiencing new places and cultures, love of family and friends and love of serving her community. Gayle has served on the boards of the Dash Point, WA Community and Hospice of Tacoma, has long been an active member of her Rotary club, and has enjoyed teaching Junior Achievement classes for 25 years in the Tacoma School District.

The Puget Sound area has a vibrant non-profit culture that provides multiple resources for the community. These varied agencies are part of an important social fabric that Gayle has supported and worked with over the past few decades. Whether through assisting them professionally with her expertise in insurance and benefit plans or personally as a caring community member, Gayle found her work with non-profit agencies meaningful and satisfying. Thus, an opportunity to focus her knowledge and experience on the non-profit community naturally evolved for Gayle leading her to create Sound Benefit Planning and Design, LLC
