Practices for effective teams
This 90-minute interactive workshop is for leaders and team members who wish to improve the quality of communication in all their interactions. Participants will increase their awareness of how they "show up" in conversations in their workplace or community. Through exercises and conversations based on the Ladder of Inference, Knower-Learner Survey, and Mutual Learning Model, participants will better understand their behavioral tendencies in stressful circumstances and how to shift their behavior to increase connection and improve communication outcomes. Participants will explore what it means to have a courageous conversation and effectively engage with conflict through genuine inquiry. Further, this workshop will make indirect use of certain “habits of systems thinking,” e.g., noticing and examining our own mental models, seeing circular cause and effect relationships, and seeing a situation from another’s perspective. Cultivation of these capacities will lead to increased productivity for the team, stronger work relationships, and improved individual well-being.
